In this video, Mogadishu-born rapper K'naan delivers a poignant ode on Somali life and the young improverished bangers caught up in piracy. K'naan spent his childhood in the district of Wardhiigleey ("The Lake of Blood") during the Somali Civil War, before moving to Harlem and later to Toronto's large Somali community.
A politically conscious rapper, K'naan is also working with artists like Nelly Furtado, Mos Def, The Roots, and Dead Prez.
