Hiking resources:

Stay tuned for the American Hiking Association's online national trail guide:

Resources for African American explorers:

The Journey African American Outdoor Sports Asociation (JAAOSA): this resource is mainly for folks in the DC-Maryland-northern Virginia area, but new chapters are coming. We cover a wide range of adventures, including hiking, horseback, biking, kayaking and white water rafting. We also do combined activities (such as 3-day excursions of hiking/biking/camping).

Triunify: Multisport Athletes of Color. This resource is primarily for folks in DC-Maryland-Virginia-West Virginia but I suspect more chapters will emerge. Our organization's members (seasoned and novice) include triathletes, biathletes, cyclists, open water swimmers, marathoners, half-marathoners, and trail ruinners. Unlike JAAOSA, Triunify is mostly fitness and competition oriented.

Black Outdoorsman Magazine. Cool online magazine, with interesting, informative, and inspiring articles, if you can get the website to load smoothly. They apparently keep the magazine updated but I just can't seem to ever get a clean upload.
