"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spirit having a human experience."

I read this empowering quote last night as I was wrestling with a few personal challenges. So often the narrow window of our woes blocks our view of the Universe. Someone once said that the Universe has two switches: on and off. When we're wrapped up in our woes and in the rat race, the switch is off. But when we close our eyes and surrender to spirit, we turn on the Universe. We realize, in that consciousness, that we are eternal spirit having a brief human experience on the third planet from the sun.

We are rejuvenated by the reminder that our human difficulties are transient. We each have an irrevocable connection to the Divine. Our entire lifetime of daily joys and sorrows amount to a mere microsecond in the vast ocean of our eternity. We are so much greater than this brief and transient passage through the human experience. Knowing this gives us enormous power to navigate our most difficult moments. This awareness of our spiritual essence affirms the "God in us" and we become co-creators of our destiny.
